In the foyer of the new Cocoon Hotel on Munich’s Theresienhöhe, guests are greeted by an expansive light installation consisting of 33 luminous spheres. The installation is already visible from the street through the large glazed façade. A light animation lends the building ensemble a unique vibrancy.
The spheres with different diameters and heights float freely in the room and create an atmospheric interplay of color, movement and light. We play gently with the spectrum and create a dynamic lighting atmosphere with individual scene changes, subtle gradients, strong accentuations and animated and themed lighting moods.
Individual RGBW light sources were developed for the spheres, which can be controlled in six segments. A wide variety of lighting designs can be realized with our light source. The arrangement appears organic and homogeneous. The floating light objects create a visual identity that is clearly noticeable both in the urban space and in the interior.
It is a project that not only illuminates, but also communicates – with the space, with the people and with the urban context.
Technical implementation:
– Individually developed RGBW LED illuminants with 6 segments
– DMX-controlled control system with programmed light scenes
– Energy-efficient, low-maintenance, daylight-compatible
